Tasting Notes
Symphony entitled Drop, composed by three artists: Chardonnay, Friulano, Malvasia. Each of them donates to the wine its characteristic, contributing to the harmony and balance from the nose to the mouth. The marked olfactory aromaticity of Friulano gives to the mouth the aromatic, the Malvasia lends continuity, then leaving a wide and long finish by the round and sapid Chardonnay. - Winery Note
Damijan is a favourite producer of orange/amber wines for a long time. These unique expressions of their Friuli terroir (specifically Gorizia) coupled with their grape varieties - Ribolla Gialla, Malvasia and Friulano - and production method, make for some of the most impressive, thought-provoking and intimate experiences in the wine world.
The Damijan vineyards are planted on marl and sandstone giving the vines both water-holding capacity and mineral availability to create their complex wines.
In the cellar, these grapes are macerated on skins for months before being pressed and matured in large wooden vats for 3 years, followed by another year in bottle before release. Time and terroir is what gives these wines their balance between primary, secondary and tertiary characteristics.
The Damijan wines are exquisite and should be revered for their approach to farming, making and quality.
