Tasting Notes
It is very hard indeed to find great Saint Amour, the tenth cru of Beaujolais and it's most Northerly. It's name connects it to Saint Valentines Day and it is allowed to release 6 weeks early compared with the other crus to be ready for the day! The big negociants grab all they can and thermo-vinify it to be ready in time.. As soon as I put my nose in the glass of Noune's version I was hooked, it's a sensual delight! Saint Amour's soils of clay and granite produce wines of subtle elegance and finesse - in Descombes hands, and from old vines, we have something quite special..flowers, Indian ink, rocks, gentle spice - this is a beauty. Very fluid and film like in texture this graceful wine exudes sensuality and dare I say it, Amour. - Importer Note
