Tasting Notes
Where would a Barossa winery be without a big, ripe, oaky Shiraz? The Bogan comes from two sites with vines from 1899 and 1965 respectively. These older vines give very low-yield, but incredibly intense fruit which is then pressed into a combination of new and old oak.
Classic dark fruits on the nose, with woody cedar tones, tobacco, and a wonderful meaty savouriness. The palate is rich and dark, and certainly full-bodied. Plum, blackberry, and licorice with white pepper and an intriguing gamey quality. Long vanillin oak through the finish. Great structure with firm tannins and a good acidity mean this wine will cellar 20 years plus. Carry me to a steak! - Felix G
