Tasting Notes
Beautifully aromatic on opening. Round, lush body with hints of peach and ginger. This is a dryer style Riesling with about 6 g/L of residual sugar yet balanced by a piercing acidity that freshens and dries the finish. Ready to accompany most Asian dishes and I'm a huge fan of drinking this wine with fresh seafood. - Ken V
One of the biggest characters in the Australian wine scene is German-born, Yarra-based, funk-bringer, Timo Mayer. His energy and charm, not to mention the quality of his wines, have brought this larger-than-life vigneron into the spotlight.
Timo comes from the school of thought that great wine is made in the vineyard. In this way, he describes himself as 'just a farmer.' But of course, he's a lot more than that. His method is one of minimal intervention, utilising whole bunch fermentation to truly express the character of the vineyards from which the fruit comes. Similarly, all of his wines are unfined and unfiltered, so as not to remove any flavour or texture from the finished products. The result is a collection of wines that display elegance and finesse, with layers of texture, complexity and balance. Oh, and they're absolutely delicious too.
