Translation missing: en.Burgundy - Côte Chalonnaise: Burgundy - Côte Chalonnaise

The Côte Chalonnaise is a region on the rise with the prices of wines from the Côte D’Or going through the roof. This region still produces wines in more or less the same style as its northern counterpart; however, the lack of any official Grand Cru sites means that prices are much more reasonable.

LOCATION:
The Côte Chalonnaise is located just south of the Côte D’Or situated between the villages of Chagny and Saint-Vallerin.

TERROIR:
The climate of the Côte Chalonnaise is still fairly cool but slightly warmer than the Côte D’Or due to it being closer to the equator. The soil types vary significantly but are also limestone dominant with elements of clay and sand.

VARIETIES:
Just as in the Côte D’Or, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir are the respective main white and red grapes, although there are significant plantings of Aligote and some Gamay too.

PRODUCERS:

Domaine de Villaine, Domaine Vincent Dureuil-Janthal, Domaine Faiveley, Domaine Bruno Lorenzon
