Collection: Gruner Veltliner
Gruner Veltliner brings to our wine narrative a chameleon-like story profile. Originating in Austria, it produces notes similar to Riesling, but its mineral, pear, apple, flint, and peppery tastes also allow it to stand on its own. The grape is known as a “workhorse” because it grows in bountiful quantities.
Around 15 years ago, American restaurateurs started to buy Gruner Veltliner because of its versatility with food as well as the high quality of the finished product. What started as a US foodie fad settled into a solid, but not all conquering market for this wine. It continues to hold a great reputation for having a singular taste, yet it offers a number of pleasant pairing options.
