Translation missing: en.LIGURIA: LIGURIA

Liguria is a sliver of land hugging the coast between Tuscany and the French border. Its
steep terraced vineyards, dramatic sea views and tiny production make it one of Italy’s most charming but least accessible wine regions. Expect light, saline whites and fresh reds that match the region’s famous seafood and pesto.

LOCATION:
Located in northwest Italy along the Ligurian Sea, bordered by Piedmont to the north and France to the west.

TERROIR:
Vineyards cling to coastal hillsides, often only accessible by foot or monorail. The soils are primarily schist, marl, and limestone, with strong maritime influence lending freshness and salinity.

VARIETIES:
Vermentino is the standout white, producing crisp, herbal, sea-breeze wines. Pigato (a
Vermentino clone) and Bosco are also common. For reds, Rossese and Dolcetto make light, aromatic wines with good acidity.

PRODUCERS:
Cantine Lunae, La Baia, Ca du Ferra
