SARDEGNA

Sardinia has a wine culture distinct from mainland Italy, shaped by its geography and
centuries of influence from Spain and North Africa. The wines can be rustic, sun-drenched, and savoury — offering plenty of personality.


LOCATION:
A large island in the western Mediterranean, southwest of mainland Italy.


TERROIR:
Granite and limestone dominate much of the island’s soil, with a hot, dry Mediterranean
climate tempered by constant sea breezes.


VARIETIES:
Cannonau (Grenache) is the most famous red, producing ripe, spicy wines. Vermentino is the standout white, especially in Gallura. Other grapes include Carignano, Monica, and Nuragus.
