TRENTINO-SUD TIROL

A German-speaking enclave in northern Italy, this alpine region produces crisp whites,precise reds, and excellent sparkling wines. Its clean, mountain-influenced style makes it one of the most consistent regions for fresh, food-friendly wines.

LOCATION:

Northernmost part of Italy, bordering Austria and Switzerland.

TERROIR:

Steep alpine slopes with schist, dolomite, and porphyry soils. Cool continental climate with strong diurnal variation.

VARIETES:

Pinot Grigio, Gewürztraminer and Müller-Thurgau dominate whites. Schiava and Lagrein are the key reds, producing light, floral, or dark and spicy expressions respectively. Chardonnay and Pinot Noir are used for sparkling Trentodoc wines.
