Lambert Wines

Luke Lambert is the enigmatic figure behind Lambert Wines. Rather than seeking the spotlight, Luke is quite a shy, softly spoken guy, who prefers to let his wines do the talking.

And boy, do they talk.

For many years we've been huge supporters of Luke's wines. The three wines he produces under his Lambert Wines label have garnered a cult following, especially the Nebbiolo which has become one of the most sought after Nebbioli produced in Australia. His Crudo range, which we featured towards the end of last year is always the first to be released from each vintage and offers an exciting snapshot of what is to follow from the Lambert wines. If you had a chance at last week's instore tasting to try the Shiraz from the Crudo range you will know what to expect from these and the quality on offer.

The Chardonnay and Syrah are always the first of the Lambert Wines released and are now available in-store and online. The Nebbiolo will be released later in the year. For many of you these wines are not new and you know what we mean when we say these are some of the most exciting wines released each year. For those of you that haven't tried them, we can't recommend these wines enough.

They sell out every year so don't miss out. - Pete L

Produttori del Barbaresco

Langhe Nebbiolo 2020 and Barbaresco 2019 release

Formed in 1958, Produttori del Barbaresco is a cooperative of 51 families of growers, spanning 250 acres under vine. Their sites cover nine crus within Barbaresco, and in the best years the wines are all released as individual bottlings, showcasing the diversity of the region. Each year they also produce a Barbaresco DOCG - a blend of the sites from all of the families - and a Langhe Nebbiolo.

The cooperative is led by Aldo Vacca, one of the most respected winemakers in the region. His father was part of the original cooperative formed in 1894, called Cantine Sociali.

The Produttori first began individual bottlings of their various sites in 1967, starting with 5 different crus. Around the same time their neighbours, Gaja and Bruno Giacosa began to release single vineyard bottlings as well, putting single site Barbaresco squarely on the map.

Since its formation, Produttori del Barbaresco has been regarded as one of the top producers in Barbaresco; with each single vineyard family release telling a story of terroir and of vintage, they a worthy addition for any cellar. For us these wines represent some of the best value Nebbioli from the region with the Barbaresco bottling offering a snapshot of the vintage across their holdings and a glimpse of what's to come from the single vineyard release.

We still have some of the Cru bottlings available from previous releases too which are drinking well now and could go for much longer if you wanted to put them down. - Peta W

BK WINES

Tasting this Saturday,

March 4th

3pm - 6pm

Brendon Keys creates art. Or as we like to call it, wine.

Having decided early on that #cheflife was not for him, Brendon threw in the teatowel to step into the winemaking ring, with a few creative and interesting side projects along the way. Studying viticulture and oenology in his native New Zealand, Brendon left the land of the long white cloud to begin a winemaking world tour that would take him and his wife Kirstyn from the McLaren Vale to the Napa Valley and to Argentina. But it was in the Adelaide Hills that they decided to call home. The quality and balance of the fruit spoke to Brendon. The Keys started up their BK Wines label in 2007 with the same artful skill and passion that Brendon had applied to his stints as a professional snowboarder and a DJ in London during the peak of the house music scene.

Working closely with growers to source exceptional grapes that reflect the individuality of a particular site, Brendon's approach to winemaking is minimalist yet creative. He has experimented with extended skin contact for both red and white varietals and nonconventional fermentation techniques. The current release is just the thing for spring with vibrant fruits and alluring aromas. The BK Wines truly are homemade. Enjoy them at home, perhaps with some house to mix it up on your own deck. - Peta W
