Chilled Reds
"Chilled reds" seems to have been the trend of the year so far for us in the store. With people moving away from full-bodied, overripe and heavily-oaked styles of red, these fresher, lighter reds have had their time in the spotlight.
Red grapes that tend to produce lighter-bodied wines lends themselves well to this style, with the appropriate winemaking techniques and chilling of the wine drawing out the crunchy, juicy light red fruit flavours and florals with minimal to no tannin. This style can often make these wines even more refreshing to drink than a crisp white and can still be paired with a wide range of foods, particularly small bar snacks, hence why they can be often referred to as a "bistro red".
We've highlighted a few bottles below that we believe are excellent examples of this style and have been selling like crazy these past months. Many of you will already know some of these wines but for those who are curious as to what a "chilled red" is, pick up some of these!
