Join us this Saturday as we taste through the some exciting wines from Abruzzo in Cantina Orsogna!

Founded in 1964, Cantina Orsogna is a co-operative winery located in the Majella hills of Abruzzo, just 15 km from the Adriatic Sea. They are the largest producer of biodynamic wines in southern Italy and have been farming biodynamically since 2005. These are the wines that we'll be pouring on the day:

Rieslingfreak

Rieslingfreak was founded in 2009 by John Hughes with nothing more than his obsession with Riesling. Today, what initially started as a passion project has expanded into a portfolio spanning 11 wines and multiple different styles of Riesling. Their mission from inception has been to produce quality Rieslings that represent both quality and style which they have done successfully as you can hardly discuss South Australian Riesling without mentioning Rieslingfreak!

Rieslingfreak craft Rieslings that showcase the strength of various South Australian wine regions, including Clare Valley, Eden Valley and Polish Hill River. Their collection has been created with each of the Rieslingfreak wines being assigned a number, and the number represents both the region where the grape is grown, and the style of the Riesling in the bottle. In the winery, they do not press the grapes like most other producers, instead, they use a ‘spin and drain’ method with the grapes to ensure the berries are treated very softly, whilst maintaining the purity of the juice. They are always seeking to find the perfect balance between fruit, acid and sweetness to produce wines that are harmonious and speak to their site.

We've recently picked up two of their classic Riesling to share with you. The '25 'No. 3' comes from heavy red clay soils in Clare Valley and produces an fruity and generous style of Clare Riesling. The '25 'No. 4' showcases the delicate floral flavours of Eden Valley. These are classic Aussie Riesling at a very reasonable price - stock up on these racy Rieslings!
