What makes a good quaffer? A good quaffer is a drinking wine. One that's affordable, accessible and drinkable, but it can be so much more...
Unico Zelo produce the ultimate quaffers, or perhaps King of Quaffers is more appropriate because all these wines over-deliver. They not only fit the build of amazing value and easy drinking, but they're also interesting, thought-provoking, unique and typical of the varieties from which they are made.
Unico Zelo Esoterico 2017
Unico Zelo 'Jade & Jasper' Fiano
A labour of love and passion, originally hailing from Campagnia, Fiano is a variety of incredibly ancient heritage. A true pleasure to craft. One of the most complex noses of any white variety. Full of white peach blossoms, honeydew and lemon, all covered in a generous splash of Grannysmith Apple. This continues onto an electric palate, lifted by a rich fruit-sweetness, and sparked to life with a crispy acidity. A pleasure to drink at any time of the day.
Unico Zelo 'Truffle Hound' Nebiolo Barbera
Nebbiolo is home in the north-western region of Piedmont. Usually the variety creates structured and age-worthy wines, but in the soft hands of Brendon and Laura Carter it's an early drinking style of Nebbiolo with lots of charm. Juicy and bright with rose petal, menthol, pan juices and aniseed notes showing good structure and length. Throw it in the fridge for 20 minutes before drinking.
Unico Zelo 'Cherry Fields' Dolcetto
Unico Zelo offer the best value in Australian wine across the range. Dolcetto, like Nebbiolo, comes from Piedmont in north-western Italy. This Dolcetto is a fresh, zippy and crunchy red that you can't go past for the warmer months. Throw it in the fridge for 20 minutes before consuming and enjoy. Delicious stuff!
Unico Zelo 'The River' Nero d'Avola
When you're looking for something a little different, that's tasty and affordable you really can't beat the Unico Zelo wines. This Nero d'Avola is medium bodied , dark fruited and a little spicey, and about as easy drinking as they come. It's a no brainer really!
Unico Zelo 'Taboo' Merlot
I love this wine and it's name... but I usually don't like Australian Merlot. How Taboo, I know... Seductive and sumptuous, sleek and moreish. What's not to like about one of the most hated grape varieties in the wine industry.
Unico Zelo 'Harvest' Blanc de Blancs
This delicious Blanc de Blancs offers trademark Chardonnay acidity and energy. We recommend drinking it as an aperitif to freshen up your palate or even in an Aperol Spritz if you're feeling fancy.
