Collection: Benoit Moreau

Benoît Moreau is one of the most exciting new domaines in Chassagne-Montrachet, although Benoît himself is certainly no newcomer. He spent more than two decades working alongside his brother Alex at Domaine Bernard Moreau, where he was primarily responsible for the vineyards, before the brothers went their separate ways in 2020. Benoît took around four hectares of the family’s vines and established his own domaine, including some exceptional parcels in Chassagne’s best Premier Cru sites.

Benoît is obsessive about his vineyards, farming organically and biodynamically, working largely by hand and using small machinery to minimise soil compaction. His holdings include Les Grandes Ruchottes, La Maltroie, Les Fairendes and La Cardeuse, with individual parcels increasingly bottled separately to highlight the differences between sites. In the cellar, indigenous fermentations, restrained oak and long élevage allow the vineyards to do the talking. These are beautifully precise, energetic Burgundies - concentrated and textured, but driven by freshness, salinity and a remarkable sense of place.
