Collection: J Lassalle
J. Lassalle is a highly regarded, family-owned Champagne house in the Premier Cru village of Chigny-les-Roses, renowned for its elegant, complex, and age-worthy Champagnes produced by three generations of women. The estate emphasizes traditional, low-intervention winemaking to express the unique Montagne de Reims terroir.
Founded in 1942 by Jules Lassalle, the house has been entirely run by women since his death in 1982, with his wife Olga, daughter Chantal, and granddaughter Angéline Templier at the helm. The domaine's motto is "Une Femme, un Esprit, un Style" (One woman, one philosophy, one style), reflecting their meticulous, artisanal approach to Champagne production. They are a récoltant manipulant (RM), meaning they exclusively use grapes from their own vineyards and do not purchase grapes or juice from other producers.
J. Lassalle owns approximately 16 hectares of vineyards, all classified as Premier Cru, spread across around 60 different plots within a 10km radius of the winery. The primary village is Chigny-les-Roses, known for its chalky-clay soils and balanced exposure. The vineyards also extend to neighboring Premier Cru villages like Ludes and Rilly-la-Montagne, and even a Grand Cru parcel in Puisieulx. The grape composition across the estate is 50% Pinot Meunier, 25% Pinot Noir, and 25% Chardonnay, with average vine age around 50 years.
