Tuscany

Tuscany needs no introduction. It is home to some of Italy’s most iconic wines — from the historic Sangiovese-based Chianti and Brunello di Montalcino to the modern Super Tuscans. Elegant, ageworthy reds define the region.


LOCATION:
Central Italy, bordered by Umbria, Lazio, Emilia-Romagna and Liguria.


TERROIR:
Diverse: galestro and alberese soils in Chianti; clay and limestone around Montalcino; maritime and sandy soils on the Tuscan coast (Bolgheri). Mediterranean climate with ample sunshine and moderate rainfall.


VARIEITES:
Sangiovese is the heart of the region, expressed in many styles. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Syrah are used in coastal blends. For whites: Vermentino, Trebbiano and Malvasia.
