Translation missing: en.CAMPANIA: CAMPANIA
Campania has long been admired for its volcanic terroir and ancient grape varieties, many of which date back to Roman times. Today, it produces some of Italy’s most compelling whites and structured reds - particularly around Avellino and the slopes of Mount Vesuvius.
LOCATION:
Situated in southern Italy along the Tyrrhenian coast, Campania borders Lazio, Molise, Basilicata, and Apulia.
TERROIR:
Much of the region is volcanic, especially near Vesuvius and in Irpinia. Altitude plays a key role in keeping acidity high despite the warm Mediterranean climate. Soils are rich in minerals and pumice, offering excellent drainage.
VARIETIES:
Fiano, Greco, and Falanghina are standout white varieties; known for texture, floral aromatics, and minerality. Aglianico is the primary red grape, particularly in Taurasi, where it shows power, dark fruit, and aging potential.
PRODUCERS:
Quintodecimo, Montevetrano, Marisa Cuomo, Mastroberardino, Feudi di San Gregorio, Casa d’Ambra
