Tasting Notes
Lagrein is a fairly obscure grape from the far north of Italy that needs a cool climate and plenty of care, so Cobaw Ridge in the Macedon Ranges suits it perfectly. It's the wine they're best known for, and fair enough too.
Fully destemmed, it spends a year in barriques and another in bottle before release. Dark plum and cherry meet cinnamon, peppercorn and liquorice, with a lifted floral nose, savoury mineral grip and a supple, long finish. - Pete L
