Fortified wines can be dry or sweet, fruity or savoury, white or red and everything in between. They are almost always more alcoholic than table wines due to the fortification process.


Generally speaking the dryer fortified wines, such as Fino sherry, are best served as an aperitif and sweeter fortified wines like vintage port are a great accompaniment to dessert or thereafter.
