Collection: Gautheron d'Anost

Maison Gautheron d’Anost is located in Meursault, founded in 2020 by the young vigneron Bastien Gautheron. Bastien began his oenology training at just 15 years old and has since cut his teeth working for the great Olivier Leflaive in Puligny. Bastien sits firmly in the camp of young burgundy producers focused on translating the terroir without artifice, and follows a non-interventionist approach to winemaking, emphasising the connection between terroir and vineyard. In terms of viticulture, the Savigny and 50% of the Bourgogne Hautes Côtes de Beaune are from Bastien’s own vineyards, which have been certified organic since 2017. The other grapes come from trusted viticulturists (mostly friends of Bastien), practicing organic or similar methods.

To preserve the authenticity of the terroir, Bastien adopts a minimal interventionist winemaking style. He uses small-capacity stainless steel tanks, cooled only at vatting to allow for natural fermentation. The grapes are handled with care, with just two punch-downs before alcoholic fermentation, followed by daily pump-overs. The ageing of the wines is done exclusively in oak barrels, with the oldest dating back to 2014. All whites are aged in 350L barrels to preserve the delicacy of the juice without overpowering it with oak. A maximum of 25% new oak is used for any white wine with many seeing no new oak to encourage the terroir to shine.  For the reds, a slight passage through new oak barrels is allowed, but always less than 35%. Fermentation for reds is gentle with a daily pump over and fermentations on skins less than three weeks, with a percentage of whole clusters that usually ranges from 30-40%. His focus is on fruit purity and freshness, a hallmark of the younger generation of Burgundian stars.
