Collection: Grillo

Grillo is a Sicilian white varietal that has superior heat-resistance to the baking plains around Marsala. For this reason, it has been traditionally used to make the fortified Marsala wines. However, it is now being produced as a dry, single-varietal white, with great success!

Thought to be a cross between Catarratto and Muscat of Alexandria, Grillo has a tendency to achieve high sugar levels if left on the vine – hence its popularity as a fortified wine. But with proper vineyard management and early-picking, Grillo produces excellent wines with good acidity and great balance. Not usually intended for ageing, young Grillo usually displays aromas of citrus and stone fruits along with a distinctive savoury, saline, herb character. A wonderful Summer white.
