La Crema was founded in 1979 in Sonoma County, California, and has grown into one of the region’s most recognisable names for cool-climate Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. The winery built its reputation on producing site-driven wines that highlight the unique terroirs of the Sonoma Coast, and over time has expanded to include vineyards in Monterey, Mendocino, Anderson Valley, and Oregon’s Willamette Valley.
Viticulture is rooted in sustainable farming, with careful site selection in cool, maritime-influenced areas that encourage slow ripening and balanced acidity. In the cellar, the approach combines modern precision with traditional techniques: hand harvesting, small-lot fermentation, and judicious use of French oak to enhance complexity without overwhelming fruit purity.
