Tasting Notes
Aussie Jura, yes please! This ripe and slightly oxidative chardonnay is all hazelnuts, honey and meyer lemon on the nose, with a cheeky mineral undertone. There's plenty of fruit concentration on the palate (white peaches and nectarines) and a salty lick right at the finish. - Nick F
Little Reddie is the personal project of winemaker Tim Shand, based in central Victoria. Having worked with renowned names in both Australia and abroad, Tim returned to the region to explore small-batch, site-focused wines that speak of place with honesty and vitality. The name “Little Reddie” comes from the creek that runs through the township of Castlemaine, where the label was founded.
Sourcing fruit from trusted growers across regions like Heathcote, Macedon Ranges and Beechworth, Shand focuses on varieties that thrive in Victoria’s diverse climates – including Shiraz, Nebbiolo, Chardonnay and more experimental plantings. The wines are made in tiny volumes with a lo-fi approach: wild ferments, minimal additions, gentle extraction and élevage in neutral vessels. The goal is to produce wines that are vibrant, expressive and immediately drinkable, yet with the structure and energy to evolve over time.
Little Reddie has become known for its purity of fruit, savoury detail and unforced style – wines that are both contemporary in feel and rooted in the traditions of careful, thoughtful farming and winemaking.
