Collection: Luca Bevilacqua
Luca Bevilacqua is a tiny natural wine producer based in Atessa, in the Val di Sangro of southern Abruzzo. After working as a sommelier for many years, Luca returned to his family’s vineyards and began making his own wines under the LAB label - named after his sons, Lorenzo Amerigo and Leonardo Andrea Bevilacqua. He works just a couple of hectares of mature vines planted on clay-rich soils around 300 metres above sea level, with the mountains on one side and the Adriatic on the other.
The focus is firmly on local varieties - Montepulciano, Trebbiano, Passerina and Pecorino - farmed without herbicides or synthetic chemicals. In the cellar things are kept equally simple, with spontaneous fermentation, no additions and ageing predominantly in stainless steel and fibreglass. Production is tiny and the wines are deliberately uncomplicated in the best possible way: fresh, energetic and incredibly drinkable, with plenty of personality and a distinctly Abruzzese character.
