Collection: Mis En Place

Mise en Place is the Yarra Valley project of Doug Lilburne, based in Steels Creek. Doug’s path into wine started in kitchens in upstate New York before taking him to California’s Sonoma Coast, where time with producers including Littorai, Pax and LaRue helped shape his approach to winemaking and organic viticulture. He eventually returned to Australia and settled in the Yarra Valley, releasing the first Mise en Place wines from the 2021 vintage.

At the centre of the project is the Homeblock in Steels Creek, where Doug farms mature, own-rooted vines organically, while also working with carefully selected vineyards across Victoria. Winemaking is manual and deliberately simple, with traditional techniques, minimal additions and a strong focus on organic farming. The wines are thoughtful and contemporary, balancing freshness and drinkability with plenty of texture, personality and a clear connection to where they’re grown.
