Collection: Zinfandel & Primitivo

Primitivo has been found to be genetically identical to Zinfandel. However, the two wines produced under the two different names do tend to be rather different in style.

Typically wines labelled as Zinfandel tend to be rather rich and powerful with high alcohol and made particularly in California in a decidedly bold and oak-driven style. Wines labelled as Primitivo (usually from Puglia in Italy) tend still to have some power but they tend to be more restrained and and rustic.
