Tasting Notes
A lot of people talk about making wines that are inspired by the light reds of Tavel but few get close. The duo behind A Thousand Gods have thankfully nailed it with this beautifully detailed light red packed full of wild strawberries, hints of baking spice that is kept bright and nimble by keeping everything in harmony. This sits at the serious end of the light red spectrum. - Pete L
A Thousand Gods is the natural wine project of Simon Sharpe and Lauren Keenan, created after a decade of winemaking in France’s Cahors and vintages across nine countries. Now based in New Zealand, they source biodynamically grown fruit from the Waihopai Valley in Marlborough, crafting wines that undergo wild fermentation with no additives, fining, or filtration. The result is a collection of clean, textural, and expressive wines—vegan and additive-free—that feel both generous and cellar-worthy, capturing Marlborough’s terroir with surprising individuality.
