Tasting Notes
Rich, layered and complex Shiraz from the Clare Valley. There's a lot of depth of character here, moving from dark fruits to iron to pepper. A full suite of flavour. The palate is also dense and compact, full of fine mouth-coating tannins. - Chris L
Adelina Wines is an artisan, estate-focused project led by Jen (Gardner) and Col McBryde, rooted in the historic vineyards of Springfarm Valley near Clare in South Australia’s Clare Valley, and established in the early 2000s as an evolution of a family-farmed garden. The vineyards include century-old plantings of Shiraz, Grenache, and Pedro Ximénez, alongside newer blocks of Mataro, Malbec, and creative field blends—each organically farmed and certified. In the modest, rustic winery, the duo practices traditional, minimal-intervention winemaking: hand-harvested fruit, whole-bunch pressing, wild ferments, extended lees aging, and diverse vessels (steel, concrete, old and new wood). Their wines—ranging from old-vine Shiraz and Grenache to standout Nebbiolo and crystalline Rieslings—are celebrated for purity, precision, textural lift, and authentic Clare Valley vitality, embodying both thoughtful craft and deep regional connection.
