Tasting Notes
It's quite confusing, this "Second Wine" is actually the first, or top wine from Agathist. As you can expect with a lot of Grenache, red and blue fruits in sexy apparel. Well that's what I think anyway. Lighter in body that others from the Barossa, yet this doesn't lack character and complexity. It's aromatically alive and beautifully sleek with a tannin that builds and evolves over the palate. Seductive. - Chris L
Craig and Jason started their wine journey together as two mates with the same idea - handmade Barossa Shiraz. They produced this idea under the Izway label and have been doing successfully for over a decade now. The Izway style is rich, muscular, concentrated, Barossa wines that much of Australia has come to love. The Agathist label from these winemaking gurus is quite the contrary. Restrained, pretty and fine expressions of Grenache. Manipulations are kept to a minimum and analysis of the wine during the process is never conducted. Clean, pure expressions made nature and formed by the palate, not in the lab.We urge both lovers and haters of Barossa Valley wines to spread your wine wings and embrace these new Australian styles of warm climate wine. We all need to be drinking more of them.
