Tasting Notes
The Domaine Armand Rousseau Gevrey-Chambertin Clos Saint-Jacques 1er Cru is a legendary wine regarded as a Grand Cru in all but name, sourced from a small 2.21-hectare holding that spans the full vertical slope of this iconic walled vineyard. Its steep, east-facing white marl and limestone soils create a unique microclimate that preserves exceptional, racy acidity, which is aged in up to 100% new oak. The wine is defined by its spellbinding floral and red-fruit aromas, translating on the palate into a masterclass of structural tension, chiselled minerality, and ultra-refined, chalky tannins. It has a powerful yet weightless energy, culminating in an endlessly persistent finish that demands 15 to 25+ years of cellaring to fully mature. - Chris L
