Tasting Notes
Rioja may be associated with its big, oaky, age-worthy reds, but wines from the northern-most corner of the region, Rioja Alavesa, may surprise you with their long history of using "Beaujolais-style" carbonic maceration. This Tempranillo, with a splash of Rioja’s white grape, Viura, is fresh, tart, aromatic and fruity, and is delicious served “fresco”, with a slight chill on a hot day. – Peta W
Less is more! Minimal intervention or Lo-fi wines encapsulate those producers who keep additions and manipulations to a minimum during the winemaking process. This means the wines are wild fermented, unfiltered and unfined, and only add sulfur during the process.
