Avani Issan Chardonnay 2021

Tasting Notes

Shashi, who is the owner and winemaker at Avani, worked at Bass Phillip with Phillip Jones and during her time she spent many years making wine using fruit from the Issan Vineyard so it is great to see her be able to do that once again with this new range of wines. Anybody who's tried and enjoyed the Bass Phillip Chardonnay's will feel at home with this wine. They definitely share a common thread, albeit more savoury on the nose and palate. There is certainly power to the wine but not oak derived instead offering notes of meal, nuts, orchard fruits and citrus with a hint of salinity. This won't be for everyone, especially people who prefers things a little leaner/fresher but it's just right for me. - Pete L
