Tasting Notes
A rich, organically farmed Shiraz from McLaren Vale. Dark red and black berries ally with good palate weight and tannin backbone. A classic McLaren Vale Shiraz without the big oak influence. - Chris L
Battle of Bosworth is an organic, family-owned winery based in McLaren Vale, South Australia, established by Joch Bosworth and Louise Hemsley-Smith. The estate farms its vineyards organically (certified) and is deeply committed to minimal intervention, biodiversity, and soil health—eschewing synthetic fertilizers and pesticides in favour of traditional farming methods and natural vineyard ecology. Their vineyards are mostly estate grown, with single-vineyard sites and multiple varietals (Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, among others), each crafted to express the unique terroir of the Willunga foothills with a mixture of purity, texture and balance. In the cellar, wines are vinified with restraint—using wild yeasts, minimal fining, sometimes no filtration, and careful oak handling—to allow fruit, soil and climate to speak. Battle of Bosworth is known for wines that offer both immediacy and longevity, honest character, and a strong sense of place.
