Tasting Notes
This sparkling shows off the Bellebonne signature with effortless charm. The nose is all about lifted red fruits—wild strawberry, rose petal, even a hint of Turkish delight—carried on a subtle floral perfume. The palate is finely layered, creamy from lees and malolactic, yet shaped by a clear line of acidity. There’s a touch of brioche and fresh cream, woven through delicate fruit, giving length and poise. It feels both generous and graceful, a wine that captures the brightness and beauty of Tasmanian Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. - Pete L
Bellebonne is a premium sparkling wine house based in Tasmania, founded by Natalie Fryar, one of Australia’s leading sparkling winemakers. After two decades crafting acclaimed wines on the mainland—most notably at Jansz Tasmania—Fryar established Bellebonne in 2015 with a singular vision: to create world-class sparkling wines that express the purity, tension and beauty of Tasmania’s cool southern landscapes.
Fruit is sourced from select high-altitude vineyards across the island, primarily in the Tamar Valley, Coal River Valley, and Pipers River regions. These sites provide ideal conditions for slow-ripening Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Pinot Meunier, producing base wines of intensity, natural acidity and mineral precision.
In the cellar, Bellebonne follows traditional méthode champenoise practices—hand-picking, whole-bunch pressing, extended lees ageing and minimal dosage—crafted with precision and restraint. The wines show remarkable poise and detail: crystalline acidity, fine bead and savoury depth balanced by elegance and length.
Bellebonne stands as one of Australia’s most exciting sparkling wine producers, showcasing Tasmania’s extraordinary potential through wines of finesse, structure and quiet power.
