Best’s is one of Australia’s most historic family-owned wineries, founded in 1866 by Henry Best in the Great Western subregion of Victoria’s Grampians. The estate is renowned for its remarkable collection of old vineyards, including some of the country’s oldest and rarest plantings of Shiraz and Pinot Meunier, with vines dating back to the 1860s. These ancient, pre-phylloxera vines remain a living link to Australia’s viticultural heritage and form the foundation of the estate’s most iconic wines.
The Thomson family has guided Best’s since 1920, farming sustainably and combining tradition with modern precision. The range is anchored by Shiraz, from the approachable Bin No. 1 to the profound Thomson Family Shiraz, alongside distinguished expressions of Cabernet, Riesling and Pinot Meunier. In the cellar, the winemaking is restrained and thoughtful, highlighting purity of fruit, regional spice and fine structure.
