Tasting Notes
Very floral with violets and dark berries on the nose. Crunchy with cool anis and dark berries on the palate. Medium-bodied, very fine and precise style of this wine. The tannins and mineral characters leave you with an almost Limestone sensation. - Winery Note
Bloody Hill is a second label for Yarra Valley cult-winemaker, Timo Mayer. Timo and his son, Rivar, work together on the Bloody Hill wines, selecting the fruit and and working alongside growers that they have built relationships with over many years. In addition, Rivar has added new plantings to the Mayer estate specifically for Bloody Hill, which we're looking forward to seeing at maturity!
The word "Villages" has been added to the label from the 2020 vintage. This is in reference to the fact that the fruit for Bloody Hill is sourced from selected sites around the Yarra. For example, the Chardonnay is sourced from Panton Hill, from an old Bress Vineyard, the Syrah from Coldstream, and the Syrah/Tempranillo blend from Gembrook. It is a fantastic and delicious way to explore the differing subregions of the Yarra!
