Tasting Notes
It's time to get funky, Royale style!! Tom Belford from Bobar has kicked it up a notch with his Royale Chardonnay. It needs a good decant to show off it's snobby side, and when it does you get a pleasant surprise. Lean and zippy, with a lot of focus on minerality and taut acidity. It's a little Jura esk in that it has oxidative elements too add complexity to this ever growing picture. - Chris L
Bobar is the playfully cheeky French term that means "a little messed up"...the wines are not. These are fabulous wine from Tom Belford and his wife where they have drawn inspiration from their wine making experiences in Beaujolais. Yarra Valley wine for sure, but with an edginess...a new look at Yarra...well worth having a look at.
