Tasting Notes
Shiraz from the two oldest blocks on our Rayner Vineyard - the 1947 and 1950 plantings. The ‘47 block is dry-grown on deep sandy soils with ironstone rocks, this gives wonderful fragrance and an elegant structure. The 1950 planting is in shallow clay on limestone base, this gives the bones - the structure around the pretty flesh. - Winery Note
Andre Bondar is at the helm of his family's vineyard and making some of the most expressive wines out of South Australia. The Bondar home vineyard is called Rayner and is located in the hills of McLaren Vale where the sub-regions of Blewitt Springs and Seaview meet. This organically farmed vineyard planted on the famous sands of the region is mostly made up of Shiraz and Grenache, with a spattering of Counoise, Mataro, Carignan, Cinsault, Touriga Nacional and Sagrantino. The red wines are generally mid-weight, gloriously perfumed and finely structured. Bondar also sources fruit from other vineyards in McLaren Vale and the Adelaide Hills.
