Tasting Notes

A really surprising Bordeaux from the former viticulturist of Pontet Canet based in Pauillac, Bordeaux. He's gone back to his families roots and taken over the family estate producing a humble Vin de France wine from a lesser known region, Sainte-Foy-Bordeaux. It is predominantly Merlot, with the balance coming from Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot and Cabernet Sauvignon. The vineyards have been farmed using biodynamic practices since 2004 and in the cellar the winemaking is gentle and thoughtful with ageing done in a mixture of concrete and stainless steel. These are thoughtful and soulful wines from a region not often associated with anything other than mass production with mass inputs. - Pete L
