Tasting Notes
Les Carteries is a blend of Chardonnay and Sauvignon Gris coming from mineral rich soils in Cheverny in the Loire Valley. It's aromatic, rich and fleshy with zesty citrus, white florals, ripe apples and hints of honey. It's all aged in stainless steel which keeps the wine fresh and tames and the riper fruit characters. - Pete L
Christian Venier is a natural winegrower based in Cheverny in the Loire Valley, working family vineyards that have been in the village of Madon since the 17th century. Farming around 14 hectares of sandy clay and flint soils over limestone, he cultivates a mix of local varieties including Pinot Noir, Gamay, Pineau d’Aunis, Cabernet Franc, Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay. The vines are tended organically with a deep respect for biodiversity, and yields are kept low to ensure balance and concentration.
In the cellar, Christian follows a philosophy of minimal intervention: hand harvesting, wild yeast fermentations, long macerations for reds, and no fining or filtration. Sulphur is used sparingly, if at all, resulting in wines that are vibrant, textural and often slightly wild, yet deeply expressive of terroir.
Venier is part of the new wave of Loire producers redefining Cheverny, crafting wines that are soulful, unpolished and alive with energy—bottles that capture both the personality of the grower and the authenticity of place.
