Tasting Notes
Les Héritiers du Comte Lafon was founded in 1999 by Dominique Lafon of the famed Domaine des Comtes Lafon in Meursault, with the vision of bringing the same precision and care to the Mâconnais. Starting with 14 hectares in Milly-Lamartine, the estate has since expanded to over 26 hectares across key appellations including Mâcon-Milly-Lamartine, Mâcon-Uchizy, Mâcon-Chardonnay and Saint-Véran.
All vineyards are farmed biodynamically, reflecting the estate’s philosophy of nurturing living soils and producing fruit of energy and purity. The limestone-rich terroirs of the Mâconnais, combined with cool exposures, yield Chardonnay that is vibrant, textured and deeply expressive of site.
In the cellar, the approach mirrors that of Lafon’s Côte d’Or domaine: careful hand harvesting, indigenous yeasts, extended lees contact, and élevage in both tank and oak barrels, always with a focus on balance and finesse. The wines are known for their clarity, freshness and mineral drive, offering both immediate pleasure and the ability to age gracefully.
Today, Les Héritiers du Comte Lafon stands as a benchmark for the Mâconnais, proving that the region can deliver whites of real depth, precision and complexity alongside their Côte d’Or peers.
