From the warm climate of Clare Valley in South Australia. Rich and full bodied yet soft and approachable. A popular wine in-store among traditional SA red drinkers. - Chris L
Cooter & Cooter is a family-run winery based in the Adelaide Hills, with deep roots in South Australian wine. The Cooter family’s association with viticulture dates back to the late 19th century, when Samuel Cooter planted vines at McLaren Vale in the 1840s. Today, the label is led by Damien and Anna Cooter, who established Cooter & Cooter in 2013, bringing a contemporary approach to long-standing traditions.
Their vineyards in the Adelaide Hills and McLaren Vale provide fruit for a focused range of varietal wines, with Shiraz as the cornerstone, alongside Grenache, Riesling, and other classic regional grapes. Sustainable farming and careful site selection guide their viticulture, aiming for balanced ripeness and vibrant natural acidity.
In the cellar, Damien employs a thoughtful, restrained hand: open ferments, basket pressing, and judicious use of oak to preserve fruit purity and highlight regional character. The wines are approachable yet refined, combining freshness, texture, and structure in a style that honours tradition while offering modern drinkability.
Cooter & Cooter is now recognised as a rising star in South Australian wine, delivering authentic, site-driven bottlings that reflect both place and family heritage.
