Tasting Notes
Great value Cotes du Rhone that shows intensity and concentration like no other in it's price bracket. A blend of Grenache and Syrah. Serious stuff and absolutely over-delivers. - Chris L
Modern example of medium bodied restrained oak and alcohol Rhone red. Unctuous mouthfeel from blue fruits, hint of leaf and some blackberry type chalky tannin adding structure. Good value. - Michael L
Delas Frères is a historic Rhône Valley house founded in 1835, with a long tradition of producing wines that reflect the diversity and depth of the northern and southern Rhône. Based in Tournon-sur-Rhône, the domaine holds vineyards in some of the region’s most prestigious appellations, including Hermitage, Côte-Rôtie, Cornas, Crozes-Hermitage and Saint-Joseph, as well as key southern crus such as Châteauneuf-du-Pape and Gigondas.
Since the 1990s, under the direction of winemaker Jacques Grange, Delas has elevated its reputation with meticulous vineyard work, lower yields, and careful parcel selection. Farming is sustainable, and fruit from both estate-owned and long-term grower partnerships is vinified with precision and respect for site. In the cellar, fermentations are traditional but finely managed, with restrained extraction and thoughtful use of oak to preserve freshness and terroir character.
The wines combine Rhône typicity with polish: Syrah expressions that balance perfume and structure, and Grenache-based blends that show generosity and spice. Today, Delas Frères stands as a reference point for high-quality Rhône wines, bridging a long heritage with a modern commitment to clarity, balance and terroir-driven expression.
