Tasting Notes
Don't let the name confuse you as it did to me! This is 100% Chardonnay from a vineyard called L'Arpent Rouge that is vinified as a still wine and picked quite ripe. It's fuller flavoured and slightly oxidative yet still has the chalk and minerality of great Champagne... Just without the fizz! - Pete L
The Delouvin and Nowack families have been associated with Champagne for generations as grape growers back when the large house controlled the market and also as coopers producing barrels for the large houses. In the 1930s they began to estate bottle their wines and over the ages the estate has passed through the hands of many family members.
It's latest incarnation is under the control of Geoffrey Delouvin who has modernised the range whilst taking advantage of their multi decade solera to build powerful, oxidative, saline and extremely complex Champagnes.
