Tasting Notes
This Grand Cru is the fifth release from this site. The Mazis Chambertin old-vine parcel (about 50 years) has been worked biodynamically for a number of years. The parcel is a tiny fifth of a hectare in Mazis Haut, on the other side of Pierre Damoy’s Clos-de-Bèze. This parcel sits on hard limestone and, thanks to millerandage, produces tiny quantities. Since Mortet has begun working the site the quality has soared and this is now the equal of this Domaine’s legendary Chambertin. The 2018 was 50% hand-destemmed and aged in 70% new wood. It’s a deep, hedonistic wine. Complex, mineral, long and with unbelievable balance. - Importer Note
