Tasting Notes
The Domaine de la Mordoree wines are excellent at every level and the Cotes du Rhone is no exception. All their vineyards and biodynamically farmed and Demeter certified producing excellent quality fruit from their sandy rocky soils. This is deep fruited, fuller in body and frame with darker purple fruits, violets and a very long finish. It's mostly Grenache but also has portions of Syrah, Mourvedre, Cinsault and Carignan. An excellent wine. - Pete L
Founded in 1986 by Francis Delorme and his son Christophe, a gifted viticulturist, this family-owned estate is nestled in the heart of the Rhône Valley in southern France. Renowned for its commitment to sustainable agriculture - a philosophy deeply ingrained by the late Christophe Delorme - the domaine practices biodynamic farming to craft modern Rhône wines. By skillfully balancing tradition with innovation, the estate produces wines of remarkable character, with its top cuvées benefiting from a judicious use of French oak.
The un-oaked ‘La Dame Rousse’ range stands as a testament to the estate’s exceptional quality, offering some of the best value wines available. Even in challenging vintages, the wines consistently deliver remarkable quality, cementing their place as a standout in the wine world. The Lirac and Châteauneuf-du-Pape ‘Cuvée De La Reine Des Bois’ are particularly notable, showcasing the estate’s ability to craft wines of impressive depth and complexity.
Domaine de la Mordorée has earned its reputation as a modern icon in French viticulture. Today, the legacy continues under the expert guidance of Christophe’s wife, Madeleine, daughter Ambre, and long-time viticulturalist Fabrice Delmore, ensuring that the estate’s commitment to quality and sustainability remains unwavering.
