Tasting Notes
This Pinot Noir surprised, like only Jura can. Firstly, Jura reds in general have those pure floral aromas and fine structure that supports longevity. And we also expect the reds to be lighter and less intense than their whites; with bright, light fruited colour and body. Secondly, my surprise - this Pinot had more powerful body than Marnes Blanches other reds, Poulsard and Trousseau. Powerful Elegance, organically! 12% alc. - Michael L
Pauline and Geraud Fromont began Domaine des Marnes Blanches in 2006. Their certified organic vineyards are located in the Jura's Sud Revermont region, which is also home to a lot of the Jura's natural wine producers (including Ganevat). The estate is 10 hectares planted on white marl soils, as the domaine's name suggests. They produce 2 main styles of wine; topped up (ouille) and oxidative (sous voile) for which they have 2 different cellars to mature the wines in their ideal conditions. They are young and energetic producers which is reflected in their living wines. A producer fit for every wine lovers table and one to watch into the future. - Chris L
