Tasting Notes
You may not know the name but this is one of the great Chateauneuf-du-Papes I've tried and it doesn't break the bank. The hand-tended old vine Grenache from the famous CNDP soils is fine and elegant, with little extraction that brings a focus to variety's bright perfume. It is also savoury in it's expression and one to be savoured with a meal. What a wonderfully seductive and charming wine. Love. - Chris L
Jerome Gradassi produces one of the rarest Chateauneuf-du-Papes around. Coming from a restaurant background where he owned a Michelin-starred restaurant in Avignon, he knew the region of CNDP very well. If running a restaurant wasn't enough, in 2004 he took over an eight hectare block of old vine Grenache that had once been owned by his great grandfather. All the wines produced are made by hand in a meticulous manner where nothing is rushed or forced. They are unique expressions of a region that has been plagued with western influence, but not Jerome Gradassi. - Chris L
