Tasting Notes
This is a more serious side of Saumur-Champigny, coming from the famed Les Poyeux vineyard planted back in 1950. It's Cabernet Franc off practising organic old vines on the region's deep clay-limestone and sand soils.
The nose is complex and inviting, all very ripe red fruit like blackcurrant and blueberry lifted by sweet spice, while the palate is ample and velvety but still fresh, carrying through to a long finish. There's real ageing potential here so cellar it if you like, though it's already a treat with veal, lamb chops or grilled beef. - Aaron
