Tasting Notes

This Saumur Blanc from Domaine des Sables Verts is a lovely example of what Chenin can do in the Loire. The nose is hopping with juicy stone fruit and fresh flowers, and there's plenty to enjoy on the palate too, all fresh citrus and ripe apricot, beautifully textured with a backbone of lively acidity and a touch of minerality on the finish. It's thoughtfully made, hand harvested and gently pressed, fermented with native yeasts, half in used French oak and half in stainless steel before the two are blended after malo and aged for six months. A textural, mineral Chenin that punches above its weight. - Aaron C
